The 2017 Junior World Championships just finished in Italy with China winning all golds. Xue Fei had a clean sweep of all boys titles defeating 15-year old Swedish sensation Truls Moregard in the boys singles final. Moregard seems to have the playing style of former World and European Champion Peter Karlsson. From practicing with and watching Karlsson’s international matches, he had a very good backhand, a weaker forehand, and his forehand was weak against backspin. Moregard seems to be modeled the same way. Moregard seems to have the hands of Waldner as he has great touch and is only 15 years old and likely already 2800 in US rating level. He could be a big threat to the Chinese in upcoming years as he defeated a Chinese player in the quarters and semis here (and USA’s Olympian Kanak Jha 4-3 in the final 32). The US boys and girls team both lost in the quarterfinals in the team event.
