Antara Garai, older sister of upcoming 7-year old Anand Garai, just finished tied for 3rd place in the KCF All Girls National Championship in the Under 14 category! She was very close to getting first place! Her biggest accomplishment to date is holding the Fide Women Candidate Master title which is given by the World Chess Federation by tying for first place in the North American youth chess tournament. She has represented the US in various international tournaments in chess including the World Youth Championships in Dubai and North American Youth Championships. Chess uses the same rating system as table-tennis in a scale from 0-3,000 and Antara’s chess rating is 1884. In chess, you are considered an expert at a rating of 2,000, a national master at a rating of 2,200, and a senior master at a rating of 2,400.Antara takes private lessons in table-tennis weekly on Sundays with her younger brother Anand.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
