The 2019 US Open took place this past week in Fort Worth, Texas with over 700 players from all over the world. FTTA Owner Shashin Shodhan went with one student, Yajat Sharma, who played his first US Open. Yajat won bronze in the Under 1000 event, had a good tournament, and nearly had a really great tournament….
The World Team Cup took place recently in Tokyo, Japan at the same venue as next year’s table-tennis event at the Tokyo Olympics. China won both men’s and women’s team but the men’s team was severely tested by Korea in the men’s team final. The US teams reached the quarterfinals in both men’s team and women’s team and were recognized with Operation Gold awards by the USOPC (US Olympic & Paralympic Committee)….
The sold-out 2019 Fremont Teams took place on Sunday, November 17 featuring the maximum 35 teams allowed battling for trophies and prize money in a full day of play. There were 7 divisions of 5 teams in each division where all teams played all other teams in their respective divisions. There was a lot of good feedback from players as they enjoyed playing with their teammates with most winning trophies. Trophies were given to the top 4 teams in each division.
Fremont Table Tennis Academy had two advanced students, Tega Sebeni and Aditya Venkatraman, attend the 2019 Sacramento Open and Tega won 1st place and Aditya won two 2nd places! Tega won first in Under 400A and Aditya won 2nd in Under 1150 and Under 900A. The Under 400A and Under 900A were in giant round robins where they had to finish first in the first round robin group to be placed in the A division.
The 2019 Newark September Open took place at the Siliman Center in Newark featuring a strong field in most events. There were around 20 events with trophies and medals to the top 4 finishers in each event. Players to reach 2 or more event finals were:
