Blades refer to the wooden part of the table-tennis paddle with both the handle and the head of which the rubber is placed on. By rule, the table-tennis blade must be made out of 85% wood. There are different variations in blades from all wood table-tennis paddles which are usually cheaper, to faster arylate or aramid carbon and zylon/zephyllium carbon table-tennis paddles. Fremont Table Tennis Academy carries a wide range of Xiom blades from slow to fast table-tennis blades.

We carry the 3 of the most common handles: flared (FL), straight (ST), and Chinese penhold (CP). Different models of blades come available in different handles. The flared (FL) handle is the most common and recommended as the racket stays easily in the hand as the handle enlarges in size towards the bottom of the handle. The straight (ST) handle means the handle stays the same size from the top to the bottom of the handle and is best for grip changes. The Chinese penhold (CP) handle is for the penhold grip players.

If you want to buy a paddle that does not need rubbers glued on, please feel free to shop our pre-assembled paddles or custom paddles that come ready to play.

All-wood table-tennis paddles usually offer the best feel and control and are usually cheaper. All-wood blades are recommended for your first paddle. Among the paddles we have in stock, Zeta Offensive blade is the only all-wood blade.

When your technique becomes more set and you want help with and can handle speed, you can consider switching to carbon which are generally fast table-tennis blades. Carbon is often added as a stiffer layer to give a little more speed. Carbon causes a little bit of a loss in feel. However, carbon paddles made today can offer quite good feel as well. Carbon paddles also have a zylon/zephyllium fiber or aramid/arylate fiber which are interweaved with carbon that add more bounce along with an enlarged sweet spot.

The longest line of carbon blades Fremont Table Tennis carries are the Xiom Feel series. The most inexpensive carbon Xiom table-tennis blades we carry are Feel SX which has an all-wood feel and Feel AX which is good for spin. Fremont Table Tennis Academy also has Feel HX and Feel HX Pro. Feel HX is made out of Hinoki and Aramid Carbon and is lightweight. The heavier Feel HX Pro is made out of 250-year old wood so gives excellent feel and control with excellent speed. Xiom also has the Feel series, ZX1, ZX2, and ZX3, that are excellent carbon paddles. Feel ZX1 offers the most control and is the most recommended paddle under $100. Feel ZX2 is a very popular blade at Fremont Table Tennis Academy offering a great mix of control and speed with Zephyllium Carbon and Hinoki wood and is medium-priced. Feel ZX3 is the most expensive blade with zephyllium carbon for spin and power but offers an all-wood feel.

The best-selling ice cream blades (AZX and AZXi) from Xiom have one layer of arylate carbon on one side and zephyllium carbon on the other making it the only hybrid paddle in the world with different sides for forehand and backhand. The Ice Cream blades are named after and used by Korean Olympian and World Top 20 Jung Young-Sik and other world-class players. Jung uses AZXi which has outer Limba plies and inner Carbon plies to increase dwell time for more spin and control. The AZX is harder and made for the aggressive topspin player and is a fast table-tennis blade.

The Omega blades are all-wood blades with the power of carbon blades. They are on sale at special prices and a limited quantity is available.
