The 2022 Fremont Butterfly December Open tournament took place this past weekend with players battling in 14 events for trophies and medals. The multiple event winners in the Fremont December table-tennis tournament were Karthik Kalle (under 1900, juniors 14 years and under), Rohan Bubna (under 2200, juniors 18 years and under), Tanishq Dhavali (under 1300, under 1000) and Aneeka Rao (under 400, under 100). The next tournament will likely be in February 2023 and may feature a senior event as well.

Day 1 (Friday, December 9, 2022):
The first day of play featured the lower rating events, such as under 25, under 50, under 100, and under 400. Under 25 kicked things off with Reyansh Kimothi getting his first tournament title coming out on top in a three-way tie with Manit Trivedi 2nd and Aditi Prasanna 3rd. Then Aneeka Rao easily won the under 400 (over Collin Kuang) and under 100 (over Surya Gayam) with the loss of only one game. The under 50 event closed play with Smayan Srikanth getting his first tournament title over under 25 winner Reyansh in the final.
The second day of play began with the Under 1600 event which was won by Tega Sebeni again who has won this event several times now. She won over Tanishq Dhavali in the final who would go on to be the top performer of the day. He won the Under 1300 over Chengyu Wu and Under 1000 over Mihika Vangapalli. The Under 700 event featured a great final with Danica Huang winning over Collin Kuang 15-13 in the fifth and deciding game. Juniors 14 Years and Under also took place today with 10-year old Karthik Kalle taking the title to follow his juniors 17 years and under title in the previous tournament. He won over Rohan Bubna.
Day 3 (Sunday, December 11):
The third and final day featured the highest level of play with Open Singles beginning play. Rohan Sirisena Manamendara Gedara won Open Singles for the 4th time in a row. He won all matches comfortably including over Leo Huang in the final. The Under 2200 was won by Rohan Bubna over Augusto Benavides. The Under 1900 event was won by 10-year old Karthik Kalle over Rohan Bubna to give him his second tournament title. Rohan Bubna and Karthik Kalle would meet for the third time this tournament in the Juniors 18 Years and Under final. Rohan would get his second tournament title over Karthik. The juniors 8 years and under event had Kethan Bikkina following big brother Raghav’s footsteps in winning his first tournament title over Anika Sanjeeve.
