The 2026 Fremont TTA Butterfly August Open closed out the summer with an exciting day of play with trophies, medals, and rating points up for grabs. It took place at the usual tournament venue, the Siliman Center. The next tournament will take place at Fremont Table Tennis Academy tentatively on October 16-18 with the tournament calendar year closed with a 2-person Thanksgiving team tournament again at the Siliman Center. The big winner of this tournament was again Ayaan Mohan who won three 1st places and two 2nd places. Special thanks to everyone who helped with the tournament and especially Chintan, Michael, and Aaron.
HIGHER-RATED EVENTS
In Open Singles, Derron Douglas won the title comfortably over visiting Chinese player Yue Yu from Shanghai. The Under 2200 title was taken by Kenny Au over Praful Bhaidasna who would also get a title by winning Seniors 50+ Years over Michael Ramirez. Michael, in turn, would also get his title winning Under 1900 over Ayaan Mohan. Ayaan would win the Under 1600 (over Hasini Deepak), Juniors 18 Years & Under (over Serena Zhao), and Juniors 11 Years & Under (over Yashvi Khandelwal). Samvit Desai won the Under 1300 over Ayaan. Open Doubles was won by coach Tianyue Ma and her student Serena Zhao over the team of coach Shashin Shodhan and his student Aradhya Shyam.
LOWER-RATED EVENTS
Only upcoming youth reached the finals in the lower-rated events for the first time in a Newark or Fremont Open. There were no multiple event winners in the lower events. The Under 1000 event was won by underrated Vidhyut Vasan over Diya Dillibabu. The Under 700 event was won by Aaryash Kundu over Kiaan Agarwal. The Under 450 event had Shrinidi Ramamurthi beating the top two seeds including Vihaan Chakraborty in the final. The Under 250 event was won by Samar Bagga over Shrinidi Ramamurthi. The Under 200 event was won by first-time tournament player Jacob Howard over Kiaan Agarwal. The Under 150 event was won by Rudra Patel over Prayag Wankawala the Under 125 final featured Evelyn Wang over Vihaan Sanghavi.
JUNIORS 8 YEARS AND UNDER
In the tournament representing Fremont Table Tennis Academy’s future, a pair of recently turned 7-year olds, Rishan Reddy and Adarsh Saiprasanth, reached the final with Rishan coming out on top. Third place went to Idhant Jain and Rishaan Hari. Fifth place went to Siddhartha Kondadasula, Karan Kothari, and Ziaan Sanghavi. Congrats to these kids and best of luck in this stepping stone to promising table-tennis careers!
