The 2026 Fremont TTA Butterfly October Open came home! After a long time of tournaments only at the nearby Siliman Center, this tournament took place at Fremont Table Tennis Academy over 3 days. The most entry-level events took place on Friday evening. Saturday featured the mid-tier events with the busiest day with 7 events. Sunday featured the higher-rated events and Juniors 8 Years and Under. The players to reach multiple event finals were Raza Mawjee (1st-Under 1600, 1st-Seniors 50+ Years), Aaron Yang (1st-Under 250, 1st-Under 200), Debbie Malkin (1st-Under 1900, 2nd-Seniors 50+ Years), and Vihaan Sanghavi (1st-Under 150, 2nd-Under 200). The next tournament will be a fun 2-person team tournament on Thanksgiving weekend with lots of matches and trophies to be given out!

DAY 1-Friday, October 16
The first day featured mainly upcoming youth starting their competitive careers. Two players dominated the opening day of the tournament with Aaron Yang winning Under 250 and Under 200 without losing a game and Vihaan Sanghavi giving him his toughest match in the Under 200 final while winning the Under 150 event. The Under 200 finalist was Suchir Bhat and the Under 150 finalist was Siddhant Nistala.
DAY 2-Saturday, October 17
The second day of play featured the busiest day of the three days with 7 events. Raza Mawjee kicked things off winning the Under 1600 event and would go on to win the Seniors 50+ event as well. The Under 1600 event featured a rarity these days with all 4 semifinalists being adult players! The Under 1600 event featured Deepak Ahuja and Seniors 50+ Years featured Debbie Malkin in their respective finals. This is Raza’s first time winning two first places in a tournament! The Under 1300 event, however, was won by Jasmeet Bagga, who is no stranger to first places, having won two golds at the 2026 US Nationals. He won the Under 1300 over Sahasrad Muthukumar. The Under 1000 event was won by first-time tournament adult player Sid Naik narrowly in a nail-biting final over 11-year Aradhya Shyam. The Juniors 18 Years & Under event was won by Serena Zhao over Prithvin Pratheep. The Under 700 event was won by Samar Kaushik over Vihaan Chakraborty. The day closed with the Under 450 event which was won by Advaith Anandan, who would get his maiden tournament title, over Srinandan Pasam in the final.
DAY 3-Sunday, October 18
The highest-rated players took part on the final day of the tournament. Visiting Japenese professional player Takahiro Mikami won the Open Singles over tournament director Shashin Shodhan. The Under 2200 event featured a 3-way tie for first with James Therriault getting 1st, Yuyang Ying getting 2nd, and Mihika Vangapalli getting 3rd. The Under 1900 event was won by surprise champion Debbie Malkin who won 16-14 in the 5th over surprise finalist Smayan Srikanth.
Juniors 8 Years & Under
The tournament closed with an event showcasing Fremont Table Tennis Academy’s future with Adarsh Saiprasanth getting his first title over Idhant Jain. Third place went to Anika Pawan and Karan Kothari. Fifth place went to Sid Kondadasula, Mithran Rohit, and Ziaan Sanghavi.
