2025 Newark Butterfly March Open Tournament

The first tournament of 2025 hosted by Fremont Table Tennis Academy took place last Saturday, March 22 with record entries of about 100 players for a tournament at the Siliman Center. Players battled throughout the day in different events for trophies, medals, and rating points. Players to win multiple events were Daniel Simon (under 1900, under 1600) and Mathew Roshan (juniors 18 years and under, open doubles). The next two tournaments will feature the same slate of events. They will take place on Saturday, May 10 and Saturday, June 14 at the same venue, the Siliman Center.

HIGHER-RATED/OLDER-AGE EVENTS:

The higher-rated events and older-events featured a mix of veterans and upcoming youth. Open Singles was won by Winston Kalicharan who broke through the defense of Sacramento’s lobber/chopper extraordanaire James Therriault. The Under 2200 was won by Yasin Musthafa over Diego Gallardo. The Under 1900 and Under 1600 events were won by Daniel Simon over Alex Rozhin and Saatwik Muthukumar, respectively. Alex Rozhin would get his title winning seniors 50+ years over Boriz Zybin. Mathew Roshan would win 2 titles with juniors 18 years and under over Yashaswi Pasumarthi and Open Doubles partnered with Raghav Bikkina over brothers Aadev and Rohan Singh.

LOWER-RATED/YOUNGER AGE EVENTS

In the lower-rated events, Hasini Deepak won the highest rating event among those winning Under 1300 over Yashaswi Pasumarthi who made his second final. The Under 1000 event was won by surprise champion Emerson Lin over Vipin Kumar Kashyap. Vipin would get his title winning Under 700 over Damon Chew. The Under 400 event was won by Akash Tangri over Emerson Lin. The Under 100 event was won by Ryker Lawrence-Vieira over Kasvhi Shah. This is Ryker’s second straight first-place tournament title after winning the Under 50 in the last tournament. The Under 25 was won by Pranav Dileepan over Siri Nuvvuru who both were in their first rated singles final. The juniors 11 years and under was won by Aariv P over Raakesh Sathish. The youngsters battled in juniors 8 years and under with Viraaj Gaikwad winning over Aditya Vitta with Sujith A and Varun M getting 3rd.

2025 Fremont TTA Butterfly August Open tournament

The third tournament of 2025 hosted by Fremont Table Tennis Academy took place at our usual nearby venue, the Siliman Center in Newark, located 10 minutes from our main Fremont academy location. It featured the usual slate of events from Open Singles, rating events for all levels, and age events for juniors and seniors.
