The 2022 Fremont Butterfly March Open featured around 70 players battling in 14 events.

The 2022 Fremont Butterfly March Open tournament took place this past weekend at Fremont Table Tennis Academy featuring about 70 players battling in 14 events for trophies and medals. The next tournament is tentatively scheduled to take place on May 6-8, 2022 at Fremont Table Tennis Academy. Multiple event winners were Jingfan Feng (Under 2200, Under 1900) and Tega Sebeni (Under 1600, Under 1300). Other players to reach two finals were Raghav Bikkina (Under 1000-1st, Under 1600-2nd), Ruhi Majumdar (Juniors 13 Years and under-1st, Under 1000-2nd), and Leo Xu (Under 50-1st, Under 100-2nd).

Day 1 (Friday, March 11):

The first day featured the upcoming youth at the more entry level of play. The under 25 rating event was won by first-time tournament player Michael Duff over Ashrith Reddi. The under 50 event was won by Leo Xu over Jaiden Thomas. Saharsh Mutta won the under 100 event over Leo Xu. The under 400 event was won by Ryan Chen over James Song. Ryan finished in 2nd place in the February tournament in the Under 400 event and took the title this time. 

Day 2 (Saturday, March 12):

The second day of play featured the mid-tier rating events from Under 700 to Under 1600. Tega Sebeni was the big winner winning both Under 1300 and Under 1600. Raghav Bikkina, who celebrated his 10th birthday 2 days earlier, was the big surprise beating 3 higher players to finish 2nd in the Under 1600 event and took his title in the Under 1000 event. Raghav’s rating crossed 1,000 after this tournament. The Under 700 event was won by Zichun Shen over adult player Abilash Amarthaluri.

Day 3 (Sunday, March 13): 

The third and final day featured the highest level of play with open singles, under 2200, and under 1900 as well as junior events. The big winner was Jingfan Feng who won the Under 2200 and Under 1900. The Open Singles was won by Xianyao He. Juniors 17 years and under was won by Telin Lee and Juniors 13 Years and under was won by Ruhi Majumdar who won her first-ever tournament title.

2025 US Open: Sid Medals, 7 5th Place Finishes or Better

Fremont Table Tennis Academy advanced students went to the 2025 US Open in Las Vegas, Nevada which featured 1300 of the best players in North America and some other top international players. The serious advanced students train year-round to try to perform well in these tournaments. Students to go were Mihika, Raghav, Anchit, Hasini, Isha, Smayan, Kavi, Siddanth, and Kethan. 2025 Butterfly Thanksgiving Teams

The 2025 Newark Butterfly West Coast Teams tournament took place this past weekend with a chance to burn off the Thanksgiving calories. Each player played more matches than a normal tournament with singles and doubles both in play. Team tournaments are usually more fun than singles tournaments. More players went home with trophies than not.
