In the Indian Open in New Delhi, Dimitrij Ovtcharov was the men’s singles winner beating the young phenom Tomokazu Harimoto from Japan in the final.
Harimoto became the youngest ever World Junior Champion last year beating the top Chinese youth players and with his finals appearance in New Delhi, became the youngest ever World Tour Men’s Singles finalist. Harimoto beat India #1 Sharath Kamal Achanta in the semis who had a nice run in his home tournament.

The Chinese players showed up in full force at the 2017 Qatar Open. 2016 double Olympic gold medalist Ma Long of China won the men’s singles title over teammate Fan Zhendong. He was voted 2016 Sportsman of the Year in China out of all sports. China’s Chen Meng won the women’s singles title over teammate Wang Manyu.
