2017 Fremont April Open-USATT-sanctioned 2-star tournament

Trophies were given to the 1st and 2nd place finishers in each event and medals for 3rd and 4th place. Multiple event winners were Charles Aebersold of Capitola (Under 2300 and Under 2100), Jun Huang of Fremont (Under 1300 and Under 1100), and Dana Yeoh of Milpitas (Under 300 and Under 100).

Day 1-Friday, April 14

The first day featured the 3 lowest rating events, the Under 500, Under 300, and Under 100. They also had the most entries with 12 for Under 500, 19 for Under 300, and 17 for Under 100. The Under 500 final featured Kevin Choe defeating 9-year old Tarun Sankuratri 3-2 in the final. The Under 300 and Under 100 events were both won by 9-year old Dana Yeoh who had very consistent play from both wings. She beat Arjun Ganesan in the Under 300 final and Sayan Dey in the Under 100 final and also beat the Under 500 winner, Kevin Choe, in the Under 300.

Day 2-Saturday, April 15

The star performer of the 2nd day was Jun Huang who won the Under 1300 and Under 1100 events and finished in 2nd place in Under 700. James Therriault of Sacramento won the Under 2500 event at a Fremont Open yet again. The Under 2100 event was won by Charles Aebersold with his strong serving and forehand over top Fremont TTA junior Pranav TantravahI. The Under 1700, Under 900, and Under 700 events were won by Ricardo Amayo of Danville, Vinod Kambrath of Roseville, and Abishek Surana Rajendra of Sunnyvale, respectively.

Day 3-Sunday, April 16

no images were found


The final day was a half-day with 3 events in the morning, the Under 2300, Under 1900, and Under 1500. The Under 2300 final was a repeat of the Under 2100 final where Charles Aebersold’s strong serves baffled Pranav Tantravahi again. The Under 1900 event was won by home club junior Rithwik Vaidun and the Under 1500 event was won by Jouncsen Xie of San Francisco.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

2025 US Open

2025 US Open: Sid Medals, 7 5th Place Finishes or Better

Fremont Table Tennis Academy advanced students went to the 2025 US Open in Las Vegas, Nevada which featured 1300 of the best players in North America and some other top international players. The serious advanced students train year-round to try to perform well in these tournaments. Students to go were Mihika, Raghav, Anchit, Hasini, Isha, Smayan, Kavi, Siddanth, and Kethan. Raghav, Anchit, Hasini, Isha, Kavi, Siddanth, and me all reached the quarters or better in a rating category highlighted by Siddanth’s bronze medal in the Under 1000 rating event….

2025 Butterfly Thanksgiving Teams

The 2025 Newark Butterfly West Coast Teams tournament took place this past weekend with a chance to burn off the Thanksgiving calories. Each player played more matches than a normal tournament with singles and doubles both in play. Team tournaments are usually more fun than singles tournaments. More players went home with trophies than not.
