Our home team, the Golden State Warriors, will face the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals of the 2017 NBA Playoffs. The San Antonio Spurs eliminated the Houston Rockets in 6 games.

My prediction is that the current Warriors team led by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and now also Kevin Durant will be called the best basketball team of all-time after their careers are over. They already have set many records and have the best 3-year run of any NBA team in history. (https://andeglobal.org/)

Pictured with Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey at the 2015 US Open in Las Vegas. This was after the Warriors won the 2015 NBA championship and I told him “I’m a Warriors fan” and he told me “we’ll get you next year.”

The Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey is a USA Table Tennis member with a rating of 1154. When the Rockets renovated their facility, a ping-pong table was one of their additions. Here’s footage of 1992 and 1996 Olympian Jimmy Butler from Houston playing with Rockets legends,  NBA Champions, and NBA Hall of Famers Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler along with Morey. During the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Butler was invited into the Dream Team housing to play the Dream Team Members and played Olajuwon and others.

Potential 6th man of the year, Eric Gordon of the Houston Rockets, plays table-tennis and was the 3-point champ at this year’s NBA All-Star Game which I wrote about earlier in the blog. His brother, Evan Gordon, plays USA Table Tennis tournaments and is currently rated over 2,200 in USATT rating! Evan Gordon played my student, Rahul Vaidun, at the 2016 US Nationals, and told Rahul’s Dad that he had been playing for only 6 months and was rated almost 2,000 at the time which is hard to impossible to believe. Maybe he meant that he had coaching for that long but I’m guessing he has played a lot before. I’ve heard of players reaching 2,000-2,200 in 2 years but never in 6 months. For serious players, it usually takes about 5 years of regular training to reach 2,000-2,200. The majority play for much longer and get nowhere close.

Here’s footage of Daryl Morey playing former Houston Rocket point guard Jeremy Lin at the Jeremy Lin Foundation’s charity event during 2013 NBA All-Star weekend in Houston where Lin invited members of the Houston Table Tennis Club to play with them.
