The National Collegiate Table Tennis Association (NCTTA) led by Willy Leparulo is doing a great job in promoting table-tennis in the US.
There are no professional leagues or professional players in the US but now many of the top juniors play some for their college teams instead of completely quitting when going to college. The NCTTA has tried to see what can be done to make table-tennis a NCAA sport but that is very hard to do. There have been a tiny number of colleges that have offered table-tennis scholarships with Texas Wesleyan in Dallas being the main one.
There are now almost 30 regional divisions for colleges to compete in. I helped start the UC Berkeley and Stanford table-tennis clubs when I was finishing my studies at Cal and started the Northern California Division of the NCTTA.
Now there are regional competitions to see which teams qualify for the annual Collegiate Nationals which has become very competitive.
