2020 Newark January Open Tournament

The 2020 Newark January Open on Sunday, January 26 featured a record number of entries (89) for a 1-day tournament at the Siliman Center. Players of all ages and from various places around Northern California came to play with rating events for all levels and junior events for the youngsters. Trophies and medals were given to the top 4 finishers in each event but each of the juniors 8 years of under participants went home with a trophy or medal. Players to reach two finals were Danh Duong, James Goodwin IV, Tega Sebeni, Vishruth Dinesh, and Nimish Jain. Each of the players mentioned had one first-place and one second-place finish. Aanya Kulkarni had the biggest rating jump with a 446-rating point increase to 729 with her stellar play in winning first in Under 500 and in a 3-way tie for first in Juniors 14 Years & Under (but coming out in 3rd by games ratio). 

The next singles tournament will be on Sunday, March 22 and the next team tournament will be on Saturday, May 16. The first tournament in the summer will be on Saturday, July 18.

The first tournament of 2026 hosted by Fremont Table Tennis Academy, the 2026 Fremont TTA Butterfly March Open, took place this past weekend featuring over 100 players battling it out in various age, rating, and open events. 2025 US Open

2025 US Open: Sid Medals, 7 5th Place Finishes or Better

Fremont Table Tennis Academy advanced students went to the 2025 US Open in Las Vegas, Nevada which featured 1300 of the best players in North America and some other top international players. The serious advanced students train year-round to try to perform well in these tournaments. Students to go were Mihika, Raghav, Anchit, Hasini, Isha, Smayan, Kavi, Siddanth, and Kethan. 2025 Butterfly Thanksgiving Teams

The 2025 Newark Butterfly West Coast Teams tournament took place this past weekend with a chance to burn off the Thanksgiving calories. Each player played more matches than a normal tournament with singles and doubles both in play. Team tournaments are usually more fun than singles tournaments. More players went home with trophies than not.
